Education Options in the River Region Kindergarten through College and Graduate Education

Residents of the River Region believe K-12 education thrives when five factors coalesce: teachers, administrators, parents, community partners and students. Our focus is to ensure teachers are thoroughly knowledgeable in their subjects, passionate about teaching and continue their academic growth. We also believe that administrators and teachers serve as exceptional role models for peers, students and parents.

River Region schools - public and private - are strengthened through community participation. Trained volunteer mentors and tutors from business and the faith communities are in partnership with schools and offer support to students in academics and personal development.

The region boasts a variety of schools: urban, rural, academic magnets, arts magnets, International Baccalaureate, vocational and technical high schools, independent schools, faith-based schools and home-schooled student networks.

LAMP, a competitive public academic magnet high school in Montgomery, is currently ranked for 2012-13 by US NEWS & WORLD REPORT as:

  • The # 1 magnet school in America
  • The # 7 best of all high schools in the US
  • The # 1 high school in Alabama.
